Redwood National Park

May 2002

We got to Redwood National Park on Wednesday, May 29th and camped in the Elk Prairie Campground. It was amazing and a humbling experience camping among the majestic Redwoods. There wasn’t a lot of wildlife around to keep us company other than the banana slugs, snails, and centipedes. It was a little spooky with the constant mist that seems to hang over the forest. We did a 6 mile trail run the following morning from our campsite through several groves of Redwoods and then packed up and headed to the northern end of the park to see some of the bigger trees. We then left the park to start heading toward Crater Lake National Park and spent the next night in Medford, OR before driving to Crater Lake in the morning.
